Jackson Petit (born 1983, Nassau, The Bahamas) was educated at The College of The Bahamas and Toronto Film College, Toronto Canada. From 1998 to 2004 he was a participant in the FINCO Summer Art Workshops and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions. He won The Central Bank of The Bahamas Art competition six times in various categories and received top honors in the CLICO Caribbean Art Competition in 2003. Recently he once again won The Central Bank Art Competition 2011 and walked away with the coveted prize of $7,000.00. Along with the prize is an invitation to host his solo show in 2012.
Petit has his art in many private and public collections including that of actress CCH Pounder, Jim Coyle, Art Educator Sandra Illingworth and Lyford Cay Manor. From 2004 to 2006, he acted in several theatre plays and designed and built sets. He has recently turned his focus to filmmaking. After taking a Filmmakers Workshop and screenwriting series, he worked as a production assistant on films such as “Casino Royale” and has produced several of his own short films. Jackson and his brother Bernard operate the company Small Art Pictures. He is currently working at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas developing art related film and video projects.
