I am married to Berklano Smith, son of Fr. Berkley and Jane Smith, and have three wonderful children, Trinity, James and Nina-Marie.
I graduated from St. John’s College during the time when Arlene Nash Ferguson was the principal. With the encouragement of my parents, Fr. Samuel Sturrup and Ann Quant Sturrup, I attended the College of the Bahamas receiving my Associate of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. I later received my BA in Education from Omega College.
For the last nine years I have been employed by St. Augustine’s College where I am an eighth and ninth grade English and Literature teacher. I am also the advisor for the Performing Arts Club which holds yearly productions at St. Mary’s Hall. The club has staged a number of well known plays including ‘Sister Act 2’, ‘Raisin in the Sun’ and most recently one of my own plays, ‘Light up the Night’.
I enjoy acting and during my time as a student of the College of the Bahamas Dr. Ian Strachan casted me in several of his plays including ‘No Seeds in Babylon’ and ‘Black Crab’s Tragedy.’ Dr. Strachan also encouraged me to perform in Ward Minnis’ ‘The Cabinet.’ Since the filming of Gippie’s Kingdom, I have had the privilege to work with James Catalyn in his twenty-ninth production of “Summer Madness.”
I love performing and look forward to being on the stage or in front of the camera again.
